The Little Cottage is approached via a path, about 20 metres uphill from the road. No vehicular access is available to the cottage itself.

The Little Cottage is a traditional welsh stone cottage, it's siting and design do create some limitations to access.

To access the cottage from the path there is a gate which is 800mm wide and a 130mm step leading to a garden path with crazy paving which is 700mm wide at it's narrowest point. This is uneven in places and the surface may be slippery when wet or covered with leaves or snow / ice.

There is a small 90mm step leading to the entrance door which is 760mm wide. The entrance hall offers level access to the kitchen via a 745mm wide doorway.

The ground floor toilet / shower room is accessed via a doorway wth an effective width of 700mm and a step up 160mm high. The glass shower cubicle has a piviting door 650mm wide giving an effective access width of 560mm. The shower tray has a step 250mm high. The shower has a removable handset on a riser rail which is adjustable for height and angle. The bathroom light / extractor fan operates with a pull cord. The bathroom taps are "crosshead" rather than smooth knobs.

The kitchen has a mixer tap with levers for hot / cold and filtered water, with the sink, oven and hob contrasting in colour with the worktop. The cupboard doors contrast with the walls.

The main living room is accessed by a doorway 780mm wide and a step down 60mm high. It's a low doorway, only 1650mm high. There is a wood burning stove with high surface temperature.

A 770mm wide staircase provides access to the bedrooms The stair risers are open without handrail. There are 6 steps leading to a small landing where the stairs turn 90 degrees and a further 3 steps to the top landing. The upstairs landing is 900mm wide.

The small bedroom has a door width of 730mm. The double bed is 690mm high measured from the floor to the top of the mattress. It's a fixed bed which is accessible from one side only.

The larger bedroom doorway is 750mm wide. The mattress hight is 520mm and there is 450mm wide access to each side of the bed.

All internal doors have thumb latches. The door surrounds contrast with the doors on both floors.

  • The kitchen worktop contrasts with the walls and cupboards and coloured glassware and crockery is provided.
  • The bedrooms have coloured linen
  • The cottage is available to guests who bring pets including cats and dogs so may not be suitable to people with sensitivity to pets. Feather free pillows and duvets are used throughout.
  • Assistance dogs are welcome, but not on the furniture please, and there are plenty of local walks in which to exercise dogs.

We are doing our best to be more accessible, notwithstanding the position and traditional layout of the cottage.

Our online booking form asks potential guests about access challenges so we can be sure to correctly advise to avoid any disappointment.
