January 2009 Newsletter
for Friends of The Little Cottage

Well Christmas is over and already the nights are getting lighter. With spring around the corner it's time to awaken the wanderlust and think about holidays and some weekends away. Bookings at the cottage have been a little quieter for the last month or two, which is expected at this time of year, with some bargain breaks to be had at our low winter rates.

We have good availability from March onwards and we wanted our previous guests to have the first choice of dates. Mindful of the economic climate we're happy to reserve the dates of your choice for a low deposit of just £50, with the balance paid 6 weeks prior to your stay.

We've been busy behind the scenes making sure The Little Cottage is bright and welcoming for your 2009 break. New curtains upstairs and the kitchen looking resplendent in it's new pale blue and cream Farrow & Ball livery.

Just a reminded to our owners of our canine guests: Spring is lambing time in the welsh borders, so it's even more important to keep you dog under close control and avoid taking them anywhere near ewes with lambs at foot.

The Pub!
We hope the pub in Llangunllo will be open again before too long. It's still on the market but we understand a sale is imminent. I'm sure it will be well used by our guests and locals alike – a welcome alternative to the bus shelter! Until then, The Hundred House Inn at nearby Bleddfa serves appetising meals and there are several pubs in Knighton serving good real ale. We get excellent feedback about the Horse & Jockey and the famous Three Tuns Ale brewed up the road in Bishops Castle.

Your feedback has been so important to us so far, so please keep it coming! It's really heartening to read the amazing comments left in the visitors book – it's good to know for the most part we're doing the right things. But even more important are your thoughts about any areas where we didn't quite hit the mark. So any ideas for improvements or additions that would help make your holiday complete we would love to hear them! Answers on a postcard please.....

Lost Property: We seem to have acquired a couple of items in the cottage – if they are yours please claim them! We'll post them to you at no charge. We found a pair of walking boots (complete with socks) and pair of tinted glasses that fold up with a hinge in the middle.

We look forward to welcoming friends old and new to The Little Cottage during 2009 and beyond.

All the best
