Way runs right past the cottage and the nearly town of Knighton marks
the half way point on the Offa's Dyke path.
Day walks can be as easy or challenging as you like limited only by your energy levels. A walk over the hill to The Hundred House Inn at Bledffa ensures you're ready for a drink and maybe something to eat before setting off back.
Further afield the Elan Valley offers wonderful walks for all abilities as well as many other outdoor persuits.
